Frequently Asked Questions For Residential Boundary Surveys
- How Much Will My Survey Cost?
The short answer is, it depends. Every property is unique, every deed is uniquely written. What is the reason for the survey? i.e. is this a boundary that is in dispute or have two neighbors decided they want to put up a shared fence? Are there other surveys done in the area, and if so, how recently were they done and what did they find? The size of the property and location are also big factors. Surveying is much more time consuming on land with a lot of trees, shrubs, or where buildings are close to one another. A surveyor must take into consideration all of these things and more to determine how much they will charge a client for a survey.
- What If I Only Need One Line Of My Property Surveyed?
A Licensed Land Surveyor in the State of Utah will likely not perform a survey of just one line of you're property boundary. To get a boundary survey done properly, a Land Surveyor MUST survey the entire boundary and often times needs to go beyond the clients property to complete a boundary survey. Your boundary lines do not exist in space alone and it is a surveyors duty to consider the entire boundary and all available evidence in order to present an opinion on the location of any one boundary line. At the end of the day, all boundary surveyors must be able to defend their work in court if needed and doing a partial boundary survey is not defensible and often times it is not even possible to do correctly.
